Lothian plans was set up in October of 2017 by Stephen Lothian.
Stephen spent around 5 years working in an architects practice training as an architectural technician from when he left school.
In 2003 Stephen decided to further his career in the construction industry with a more hands on approach and began an adult apprenticeship with a small builder in East Lothian. During the years to follow, Stephen successfully completed his second apprenticeship where he worked mainly on home extensions, conversions and alterations. Stephen worked alongside various different architects during this period, gaining a vast experience of how to construct buildings practically as well as theoretically.
In January 2015 Stephen set up a construction company with his work colleague which continues to run successfully, however throughout the year of 2017 Stephen was continually bothered with severe back pain which was hindering him from working. After consulting with a chiropractor it was confirmed that he had been suffering with a broken vertebrae in his back- which had not been diagnosed. He was advised not to do any manual work for a while and after much thought he decided to start drawing up plans again, so back to the drawing board it was!
He has found that the knowledge he has gained as a builder benefits his clients hugely as he understands the quickest and most cost effective options available for them increasing efficiency in their building projects.
The other benefit is that Lothian Plans has a fantastic network of different tradesmen and builders that can accompany their architectural services for their clients and assist greatly in helping with getting the building work taken care of for them.
We work very closely with our clients and really look after them as we understand that this can be a very daunting process for most.
